You can attend using your existing Live Yoga pass or membership.
A Collaboration Rooted in Whole-Person Wellness
Semiahmoo Wellness Centre is a holistic health clinic in White Rock/South Surrey, BC, dedicated to supporting optimal health through whole-person care. Their approach is rooted in understanding the root cause of health concerns, removing obstacles to healing, and gently restoring balance to the body and mind.
Their clinic philosophy centres on care, intention, and support. Clients are listened to thoughtfully, guided with compassion, and supported in a way that honours the body, mind, and spirit.
This shared focus on mindful movement, healing, education, and embodied wellbeing makes this collaboration a natural fit for the Live Yoga community.
Why Yoga and Acupuncture?
Gentle yoga and acupuncture are both practices that invite the body into a state of awareness, regulation, and restoration. They encourage us to slow down, listen inward, release held tension, and reconnect with the body’s natural capacity for healing.
Modern research continues to explore the benefits of both practices. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health notes that yoga may support general wellness by helping relieve stress, improve sleep and balance, support mental and emotional health, and assist with some types of pain and menopause-related symptoms.
Acupuncture has also been studied for several pain-related concerns. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health notes that acupuncture is included in some clinical guidance as a nondrug option for low-back pain, with stronger evidence for chronic low-back pain than acute low-back pain.
Together, yoga and acupuncture offer a gentle, accessible way to support the nervous system, improve body awareness, and cultivate a greater sense of ease.
Series Schedule
May 5 — Perimenopause & Menopause
With Dr. Desiree Caruso, Naturopathic Physician
Perimenopause and menopause can bring significant physical, emotional, and hormonal changes. Hot flashes, night sweats, disrupted sleep, mood changes, brain fog, cycle irregularity, shifts in energy, and changes in body composition are all common experiences, yet many people move through this stage feeling dismissed or under-informed.
In this session, Dr. Desiree Caruso will unpack the hormonal shifts of perimenopause and menopause, explain why your symptoms are valid, and share natural tools that may help you feel more like yourself again.
Dr. Caruso is a licensed naturopathic physician in British Columbia. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of the Fraser Valley while co-captaining the women’s soccer team, then continued her medical studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Boucher campus. Her practice is patient-centred, individualized, evidence-based, and rooted in ongoing education. While she has a special interest in chronic pain and sports medicine, she also maintains a general practice focused on helping patients achieve the health and wellbeing they desire.
This class is for anyone entering, moving through, or wanting to better understand the menopause transition.
May 12 — Nutritional Considerations in Menopause
With Diane Rohac, Registered Dietitian
Food is medicine, and during the menopause transition, nutrition can become an important part of supporting energy, hormone health, digestion, metabolism, muscle maintenance, bone health, heart health, and overall resilience.
In this session, Diane Rohac will share simple, practical guidance to support energy, hormone balance, and overall health during this stage of life.
Diane is a registered dietitian with expertise in anti-inflammatory nutrition, digestive health, food sensitivities and allergies, weight optimization, whole-foods nutrition, plant-forward eating, and vegetarian and vegan nutrition. With more than three decades of experience as a clinical dietitian in hospital, outpatient, and long-term care settings, Diane brings deep medical knowledge and compassionate support to her work.
Her approach is holistic, practical, and grounded in intuitive eating, making peace with food, and building a sustainable relationship with nourishment. She helps individuals navigate the often overwhelming nutrition information found online and on social media by dispelling myths and offering science- and evidence-based guidance.
This session is ideal for anyone who wants clear, compassionate, and practical nutrition guidance without extremes or overwhelm.
May 19 — Stress Relief Through Acupuncture
With Annaliisa Kapp, CNP, R.Ac
Stress does not just live in the mind. It can show up in the body as shallow breathing, poor sleep, muscle tension, digestive changes, headaches, fatigue, irritability, or a constant feeling of being “on.”
In this session, Annaliisa Kapp will share how acupuncture can help calm the nervous system, quiet a busy mind, support deeper sleep, and restore a greater sense of balance.
Annaliisa is a seasoned hormone nutritionist, licensed acupuncturist in British Columbia, and certified yoga teacher. Her holistic approach brings together food, movement, mindfulness, acupuncture, and Traditional Chinese Medicine to support self-empowered healing. She graduated with Honours from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition and has continued her studies in digestive health, hormonal health, functional testing, and TCM dietary therapy. In 2022, she graduated with Distinction from Kwantlen Polytechnic University as a licensed Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist.
Annaliisa offers acupuncture, cupping, and dietary therapy in the South Surrey area, with a focus on stress management, pain relief, hormone health, and longevity.
