Hot Yoga: Why Live Yoga doesn’t turn up the heat.

With so many styles of yoga on offer at Live Yoga, you may wonder why Hot Yoga isn’t on the schedule.

There are a few reasons we keep the temperature at a comfortable, moderate level.

Our whole philosophy centres on our students feeling comfortable and confident in their bodies no matter the level of their practice.

Often fitness culture can feel intimidating, as though students must “fit the brand” to participate, and we believe yoga is more than just fitness and body image. We strive to create an atmosphere of inclusivity, body positivity, and acceptance, and we cultivate that by excluding mirrors from the studio.

Hot Yoga can be one of the more polarizing practices – either you love it or sweating it out just isn’t your cup of (herbal) tea. And that’s okay!

At Live Yoga, we focus on meditative moments and safe experiences in hatha, power, flow, yin, gentle, and nidra, that warm up the body naturally.

Prolonged exposure to heat can block pain receptors and possibly promote overstretching, resulting in injury. Becoming overheated is no fun and can quickly turn an invigorating practice into something draining and exhausting.

So you may not find Hot Yoga at our studio but what you will find is a comfortable, welcoming environment suitable for every body to explore movement in.
