May Challenge Resources
At Live Yoga our May Challenge is not just about the physical practice of asana. You can practice yoga in many different ways like breathing practices, meditating, studying philosophy, or learning the history of Yoga.
Finding a state of connection or peace is yoga and there are many tools to get us there through study and practice. Sometimes we even stumble upon a state of tranquility with no effort. Yoga (a sense of union/connection) is always there to observe.
We encourage you to read through this resource page and consider expanding your practice in new ways. You can count each time you do some breathing, meditate, talk a walk in nature, or dive into a documentary as a class towards your goal of 30 classes in 30 days.
This way if you need a break, or can’t make it to your class you have a chance to catch up on your May Challenge.

“Yoga happens on the inside and there are many paths to find our inner space”
Alternate Practices:
Breathe and Meditate
Often as students we spend a lot of focus on physical postures which have numerous benefits are are a great tool to connect with our body and experience a state of yoga after moving each class.
This experience from asana posture practice connects us mentally and physically and provides an opportunity to deepen our practice and explore more in-depth breathing practices and meditation techniques.
With this we can experience deeper states of yoga and make personal revelations into our spiritual practice.

Connect with Nature
Find peace and connect with Nature.
Throughout the history of yoga many practitioners or “yogis” found beautiful mountain and forest locations to begin the practice of yoga. In these calm and tranquil environments there is great opportunity to find peace in our body mind and spirit.
This month consider taking your practice outside to observe the beauty around. Take in the spring flowers, blossoms, mountain landscapes, forest greenery, and of course the breathtaking ocean vistas we have here in White Rock. By noticing this beauty around us we also recognize the beauty within.
Study and Learn
Studying texts and reciting sutra and mantra have long been a major component of being a yoga practitioner and steers the student towards Jnana yoga. The yoga of knowledge.
We compiled a resource list of documentaries and mind opening videos to learn more to expand your understanding of yoga and all it encompasses. SEE BELOW!
We also have an extensive selection of great philosphy and yoga books in our retail store should you need some extra resource.
If unsure, or you don’t see a title as Sean and He can dig into his personal library and lend a good once for you.
