Meet Babeeta Chhabra

Meet Babeeta!

Some of you have had the pleasure of taking classes with Babeeta over the past few months in her community satsangs and mantra and meditation series, but did you know you can catch her every week on Mondays at 5pm now? We asked Babeeta a few questions so you can get to know her better. Read on below!

Where are you from?

Hello! I was born in London, England and raised in Rochester, Kent, the home of Charles Dickens. We immigrated as a family to BC when I was in high school. The origin and homeland of my heart ❤️ is India.

Anything to share about your family/upbringing?

I was raised to be a global citizen by my globe-trotting parents. Their love for travel and having an education that extends beyond what we learn at school/university has always been very important for them. It is what inspired me to travel and teach yoga in India, Japan, France, Germany, and Canada. Also, it is what gave me the courage to live in small towns in India, Japan, and France and learn to speak French fluently, a little Japanese, and the language of my motherland, Hindi.

What made you fall in love with yoga?

The source of inspiration and love of yoga came from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, my spiritual guide who ‘walks the yoga talk’ and inspires me to live a life of meditation and celebration with the ultimate teaching that love moves the world and has no boundaries.

How has yoga impacted your life?

In every single way… from the way I perceive, observe, and express my life. As a professional Pediatric OT and artist, it has taught me to live life as a blend of artistic expression and also with an objective scientific temper.

What style of yoga/lineage of yoga do you teach?

The yoga I teach is from the Sri Sri School of Yoga.

What inspires you to share yoga with others?

It is natural that when I feel content, I want to share that inner peace and joy with others. The sister science of yoga and Ayurveda is what I consider to be the mother of all medicine and an integral part of my practice.

What is something interesting students might not know about you?

Besides being surprisingly spontaneous, I would say that singing jazz/meditative chants, dancing Kathak/ballroom dancing, and writing poetry are my ways to express the beauty of the world and the subtlety of the human consciousness.

I have released a book of poetry and short stories on Amazon and Audible (with original narration and piano).

Anything else you would want to let students know about your classes?

You will leave the class feeling happier on the inside and receive what is best for you in that moment. The class is adapted to the physical level of the individual and their quest to learn deeper breathing techniques and yogic knowledge.
