In this 2.5hr long practice students will use pranayama (breathing techniques) to bring awareness to the deep layers of the core line followed by a physical practice to help define the relationship of the 3 masses or our body (pelvis , torso and neck/head). Another focus will be how to integrate the upper and lower limbs into their joints while exploring their relationship to those 3 masses.
The workshop will also investigate how the term “strong core” does show up in the practice of yoga, Pilates and other movement disciplines but often fails to have a definitive definition. Ultimately, students will gain a better understanding of integrating their core during practice as well as in life and experience how it awakens a strong awareness of healthy posture supported form inside.
“Over the years teaching and practicing yoga and Pilates I realized that most of the people still refer to strong core as strong developed abdominal muscles. Keeping a certain tone to abdominal muscle wall is for sure very important but that’s not all that hides behind expression “strong core”.” (Katarina)
