Getting To Know Line Grantham

Line Grantham

Live Yoga is running a series of teacher profiles to introduce you to our fabulous team.

Originally from Montreal, Line (pronounced Lynn – she thanks her parents for the French spelling!) moved to White Rock in 2006 and began practicing yoga in 2008.

“With two young children and a background as an aerobics instructor, I went into yoga feeling I needed to stretch,” she says. “I felt my body needed to open.”

A natural athlete, Line had spent three years at Club Med in the Caribbean teaching aerobics and was drawn to the more challenging yoga poses when she started practicing. She soon noticed that her practice shifted from being physical to so much more.

“I was blown away by the breath work,” she says. “The power behind our breath is unbelievable. Our mood affects our breath and our breath affects our mood. This was life-changing for me.”

Line was so passionate and motivated that she enrolled in yoga teacher training in the fall of 2017 and hasn’t looked back. She started teaching at Live in April 2018 and now has three classes – Monday evening, Friday morning, and alternating Saturdays that she shares with another teacher.

“I knew I wanted to teach locally and at a studio that embodies the true essence of yoga. Live was the perfect fit for me.”

A music lover, one of Line’s favourite aspects of preparing for her classes is the thoughtfully curated playlist of songs that she creates on a regular basis, and that her students have come to expect.

“I want to create an experience for the students so I invest a lot of time carefully prepping for my classes. And of course, they can expect breath work at the end of every class, before Savasana.”

Line believes that yoga is not about being good at something, but rather being good to yourself.

“Yoga has helped me on so many different levels,” she says. “Yoga has definitely taught me to slow down and press pause and has given me multiple tools to deal with the craziness of life.”

Catch Line and her amazing classes on Mondays at 9:00 am and Fridays at 10:30am!.
