Dear Students,
Our
September theme at Live Yoga is Community.
Three years ago I was at my Dad's "Celebration of Life" on
Pender Island. To my amazement there were all these people
attending that I had never met or heard of. Each person took a turn
getting up and telling about how my Dad had checked on them during a
snow storm, had given them a drive to the Doctor's, had helped bring in
their hay, and participated in building park trails etc. My first
thoughts were "Why had he never told me about all these people and
how much he had done for his community?" Then I got it -
that is what community is all about - you care for each other and your
environment. It becomes so much a part of your life that you don't even
think about it.
At Live Yoga our hope is to create community and by all of us joining
together to practice yoga we are doing that. Our theme for the month of
September is Community. We welcome back all of you who took the summer
off and all who will be joining us in the Fall. At Live Yoga we
truly care about all of our students and are mindful of individual
needs. Our desire is for everyone to feel a connection, one of support
and love.
We received so many kind and thoughtful comments on our survey
encouraging us to continue emphasizing and building community that we
are excited by the support! At the same time let's remember to
have fun together as there is no better stress antidote than sharing a
good laugh together.

Survey Results

Thank you all for filling out the survey and your
comments - the response was great. The results helped us create the
Fall schedule based on the majority's desires and to plan future events
based on your input.
Class Time Preferences:
9:30 am
6:00 & 7:30 pm * this was so overwhelming that we have kept these
times right across the week
Preferred Classes:
Anusara Inspired - Flow - Hatha - Yin Those 4 were fairly
equal so our schedule reflects that.
Suggestions:
Meditation - watch for November - we will have a special Meditation
month
Advanced Yoga - Lauren will be teaching an advanced class Thursday
nights
Anusara Beginner's - Carol will be teaching Wednesday nights.
This class will be ideal for anyone who has injuries and needs specific
guidance.
Classes for Challenges such as arthritis - we will be offering more
therapeutic workshops to address this. Our first one will be for back
pain that Dan Clement will be teaching on September 17.
Chakra & Energy - Marnie will incorporate chakra and
energy/visualization into her Yin classes.

Fall Schedule & Holiday Hours

We're excited to announce our new fall schedule, which
will begin on September 7th, after the labour day long weekend.
The new schedule is packed with more of your favourite classes at your
favourite times, based on your survey responses. In addition, we
will be offering two new classes, a "Weekend Bender" with
Kate and Pilates with Katarina to strengthen our cores.

Healing Habits Series with Lauren

Learn to heal your body and create new healthy healing habits. Find
peace through yoga postures, breathing exercises, mindfulness and accessible
meditation practices.

New to Yoga Series With Katie
|

7 Week Series

(Please note that there will be no class on Thanksgiving Monday.)
This progressive series is designed specifically for beginners. You
will learn basic postures and breathing techniques that will help you
to relieve stress, improve flexibility and strength and increase your
sense of well-being. You do not need to be flexible or to have any previous
experience with yoga in order to take this class. We will start out
gently and work at a comfortable pace, gradually building your
repertoire of postures. By the end of the course you will be well
prepared to step into a yoga class of your choice with confidence.

Prenatal Yoga Series with Lauren

Classes are designed for the pregnant Mama and for birthing
preparation. We will practice conditioning poses, breathing
exercises and relaxation. Modificatications will be readily made to
accomodate the changes taking place. This is a great time for
mothers to connect and also to learn from one another.

55+ Yoga Series with Cindy

7 Week Series

This 7 week series is designed specifically for students 55 or better.
Connect with your breath as you move through gentle postures and into
deep relaxation. Yoga is great for releasing tight muscles
(particularly in the hips), improving range of motion and maintaining
the health of your bones and joints. Stay healthy in body, mind and
spirit with yoga.

Tap into your inner strength, inner wisdom and inner peace with this intensive
Kundalini class. This vigorous class will energize you as you let go of
old energy and invite the new energy. We will move through powerful

Yoga Nidra Workshop with Mickey

Yoga Nidra means 'yogic sleep'. In this practice, you will simply rest
in savasana while you are guided into a state of deep relaxation.
Yoga Nidra, based on ancient teachings, offers an opportunity to centre
and quiet yourself. It helps you disengage your mind from unhelpful
thoughts and feelings allowing you to be more relaxed and happier in
your life.
Studies show that 80% of our medical costs are stress related and over
three quarters of the workforce report being burned out.
This session changes the relationship we have to those life events that
challenge us and allows us to react in healthier ways.
Expect a relaxing, supportive atmosphere where you can forget about
your worries.

Yoga for Back Pain with Dan Clement

Back pain is frustrating, tiresome and can interfere with the
activities we love to do.
Thankfully, the cause of most back pain can be addressed using some
simple and highly effective bio-mechanical techniques.
Join yoga therapist and teacher Dan Clement for a look at skeletal,
muscular and behavioral anatomy of the hips and spine. Learn a short
practice designed to re-align the lower body. Bring freedom of movement
and resolve discomfort.
